MB 130731

Hood # 79429 (Australian registration #) was in the first shipment of 250 jeeps to arrive in Australia. They arrived in the State of New South Wales on July 3 1942. 79429 was declared operational on July 13 1942 from the First Australian Ordinance Depot, Rutherford, NSW. There is a possibility that it saw overseas service. The engine number MB133241 ( possibly the original ),was the last recorded engine fitted prior to it's disposal by the Australian Army from The Perth Ordinance Depot, Western Australia, on the 18th of February 1960. It is a 'script' jeep, with a flat top grill (guard), brass plates, MB-BRT and was very original and complete when I purchased it back in 1974. It has been restored since 1978. Thanks to John Edwards for the information. garryg@iinet.net.au
