Willys MB 399340
This Jeep was used for 20 years post WW2 by the French Army.It was refirbished in 1954,(and has a ITM 0038692 serial# in the chassis to confirm this)and then in 1962 had the rear axel and engine replaced by the french"La Maltournee factory" out side Paris, (a "MALT plate" with a serial # attached to the chassis confirms this).Retaining all wartime parts, except rear axle and engine, the jeep is in a good motorpool condition, and driven every week.I aquired the Jeep from a 73 year old lady, who bought it over 10 years years ago,and had it restored and painted in the markings of her decased Husbands wartime Jeep .Because of a hip replacement she could no longer drive it,hence it's now with me.
In August 2002 while cleaning my Jeep in bright sun light i spotted below the existing paint work U.S.M.C and a hood #
which at the moment i cannot make out.
