This old girl is the last of six that my father owned. He had names for all of them: GAL (now owned by my father-in-law) , SPION KOP, LAZY LIL, JOHNSON JEEP, NULLI SECUNDUS and this one GUNG HO. Sadly dad passed away in 2002. He only had Gung Ho and Gal left. Fortunately Gal was bought by my father-in-law who is in the process of restoring her. Gung Ho was bought by dad in 1975 from the local bush fire brigade commander in Grenfell, western NSW. She was caught in a bad bush fire on the 24th January 1975, and had most of the burnable stuff burnt off. The two occupants jumped out and into a dam to escape. Dad got her back in good running condition. The only bit of rust in her is the size of a thumbnail and easily fixed. She has always been garaged for the last 30 years thankfully. She was used up untill 1989 on my grandparents farm as a run-about and to heard the sheep. Since then she has been sitting under my parents house waiting for the day I had the time to get her going again. Up untill 2002 she had only been started twice since 1989. --------------- Update - 7th Sep 2006 ----------------- Well she's all back together now. Just a final check of everything and it's off to battle the mechanic to see if she'll pass rego. Anyone who may of bought one of the other four from Ron Maidment, Tamworth, please feel free to e-mail me, I'd love to know how they're going.
