This vehicle was originally issued to US Marines during the Pacific campaign and served in the retaking of the Philippines and occupation of Japan. At some point it was transferred to the US Army 27th Regiment 25th Infantry Division 'Wolfhounds' and participated in the Korean war. The Jeep was repatriated to the US and privately purchased from Military Sales in 1962. The Jeep became a much loved member of that one family and had various adventures across North America, until it settled in Texas for a while. An enthusiast bought and imported it into Australia around 2012, where it underwent a mechanical restoration but without touching any of the original markings that survived from its time in Korea.
I purchased it in Dec 2025 as a project for my elderly father and I to work on - in memory of a Ford GPW we restored together when I was a teenager - but he passed away shortly before I took delivery of the Jeep. I've now fully rewired the electric system but otherwise I intend to preserve its original patina.
