The Jeep was purchased in 2003. It is ex. Austrian Army. The original data plates are mounted on the standard Willys body, showing MB 290875. However, the Willys frame it is mounted on has the frame number 134202 of April 1942...According to some sources, this frame was part of a contract for the Soviet Union, namely frames 132241 through to 136512. If that is true, I wonder how the chassis ended up "under" 290875 of the Austrian Army who received the vehicles as defence aid out of US rebuilding programs for Jeeps in Europe...? The engine MB 495582 is my "addition" to this puzzle Jeep currently under restoration, hopefully ready to take part in OVERLORD 2004 in Normandy !
