This Jeep, which is no longer in my possession, comprised of body assy. complete on the frame, but no engine, transmission or running gear & unfortunately no ID plates. The Australian rego. number has been painted on the hood at least four times, originally starting right at the rear of the hood in about two inch numbers then finishing on top in 3 1/2 inch numbers. This size number is also on the rear of the tub about 7" up left hand side. The Hood also has printed on it, underneath on the air cleaner side just above the channel, "1/4 TON TRUCK . 42".The dot in between the word truck & 42 is square. The hood is of the Willys type with the deflector, the same as my Script MB 130731. There has been numerous TAC signs on the screen panel, the obvious one is the # 99 on a red square patch that according to the Australian War Memorial, means that it served with the S.A.S.for a short time before its disposal. Also, according to the Aust War Memorial, MB170427 was the original engine number, and the vehicle was disposed of from the 5th Australian Base Ordinance Depot on 22nd September 1958. 5 Base Ordinance Depot is situated at Nungarin about 300 KM north of Perth Western Australia. During WW II there was a tank workshop located at Nungarin, and as there was no other facility for servicing tanks in Western Australia,it did 3rd echelon repairs for forces in this State, servicing an average of 5 tanks per week. The workshop consisted of general armament and vehicle workshops, instrument and signals workshops and a range for rifle testing. There is a Heritage & Army Museum now on this site. Cheers Garry
