GPW 16444

Hi, I just purchased this jeep from a friend who bought it from an Army Auction in Pakistan about 3 years ago. The GPW is still in active service in the Pakistan Armed Forces. I do not know the year of manufacture for this unit but the papers show the serial number to be 16444, so i believe this to be arond 1940-41. All other numbers must, i suppose, be under about 5 layers of paint but am not ready to take the paint off as I am happy with it at the moment and the engine has been changed to a diesel. Don't know about service in the European theatre of WWII but has seen service in Pakistan-India war in the 1960's and is still used here with recoilless rifles in the army. Have applied to Pakistan Army for further info about the jeep. will post as soon as I get it.I would also appreciate it if someone could tell me as to how I could get info about this jeep's past history?
