MB 409616

Ex-austrian army. Date of Delivery is estimated, as the original middle data plate was replaced by an almost identical plate, which states that the vehicle was rebuilt by Esslingen Ordnance Depot, 7845th Ord. Maint. Group, Ordnance Automotive Center. The field for the serial number is not stamped, but Date of Rebuild says 2. 6. 53. Left frame horn has large style zinc plate on the inside, which reads MB 409616, plus JEEP, WILLYS SCOUT CAR, etc. No engine number found yet, but 3 28 44 stamped on the oil pan mating surface, and 3-27 638632 W4 A NI-CR stamped on right side of crank case. WILLYS and JEEP stamped on the head, and casting number looks like 639660, but it's hard to tell exactly, because of the oil filter bracket. Under restoration (april 2004)
