1943 GPW found in a shed in Alabama in '03. Sometime in the late 60's or early 70's she had a 289V8 dropped into her (Bubba), but a pretty neat job I might add. They also put in a T-90 tranny which modified the floor a bit and added the dredded overdrive as not to rip out the rear end with the addtional power--this explains the extra shift in the floor. And I guess they thougt it would be quick, soooooooo they added power brakes as well!!! But it moves down the road faster then any other jeep I have encountered so far. No numbers could be found as it was sanded to bare metal at one time and painted blue/yellow. Other numbers were missing as well, but the original plate on the glove box was intact (thanks Bubba). All she needed was lots more sanding, ALL the extra holes plugged, paint, make a cover for the big hole in the floor w/the extra shift and new canvas, love care and $$$. The 1919 mount which was home made and mounted in the rear has been removed and a step mount for the 1919 has been added to the passenger side step. Original combat wheels (5) remain as well as one original tire (spare). Quite a few F marked parts remain also. Hood number now in place was a random number that I deceided to paint on, no ryhme or reason. This jeep is used in the field at reenactments, public displays and such--she does not mind getting dirty!!
