Ford GPW 66947
Was in previous owner's family for 50 years. Civilianized with Willys CJ-3 windshield, vacuum wipers, heater, bright red paint. Had Arctic cab.
We're slowly making progress to return it to military configuration (Sept. 2005)
May 2008. Body is off. Frame being sandblasted and straightened. Running gear is complete. Windshield replaced with military. Lots to do this year.
2009. Body parts cleaned, sanded, body filler removed, then painted OD. New wiring installed. Body tub installed with use of small electric forklift; some scratching of body. Dash instruments and associated wiring installed. Parking brake and speedometer cables installed.
June 2011 - vehicle restoration completed. Entered in Vernonia, Oregon 4th of July parade.
Jan 2011. Pioneer tool bracket holes located and drilled. Fasteners and misc. cleaned and painted. Square nuts for transmission cover welded into floor holes, cleaned and painted.
Feb 2011. Fenders installed. Grille fitted. Lots of parts installed - engine stay cable, grounding straps, choke & throttle cables, etc. Lots of fasteners to find, clean and paint. Accelerator foot rest and fuel sump rock guard plates manufactured and painted OD.
