Ford GPW 108653

Frame is marked GPW108653, Data plates on dash have issue date of 4-29-43,I believe they are steel. The Original engine is long since gone but, I have a 1943 MB Engine I will be installing. I purchased this Jeep from a long time friend and Co worker, Daily holman, who had the dis-assembled Jeep stored in three locations and in two states, Daily had lots of the restore work done such as, sandblasting and new floor boards and spare parts!. The Jeep is currently being re-assembled back to the Military configuration from being civilianized some years ago. The history of this Jeep is unknown, I have found several colors on the Jeep from rootbeer bottle brown, Orange and Tourquise and pale yellow. Well, with lots of elbow grease and help from the G503.com Members, the Jeep is coming back together,This project is my thearopy and keeps me in the garage, I even work on it in my sleep. The guys from Ron Fitzpatrick Jeep parts and G503.com, and the Oregon National Gaurd restoration group from Camp Withycombe, got me motivated during one of the swap meets in Oregon, as well as, a WW2 Vet from Idaho!. My first military jeep experience was a near roll over in a M151 in Yakima Wa., with the 303rd Cav. Troop E (with me at the wheel). I was late getting to the chow hall and was in a hurry and took a corner too fast! I still have some od green paint under my finger nails!! I would like to put Unit numbers on this Jeep to reflect a Armor Unit that fought in the Battle of the Buldge, I plan on mounting a .50 cal in the rear and a .30 on the passenger side.(semi auto or replica)darn it!! This Jeep started out as a jig saw puzzle, with almost everything needing repaired or replaced and with lots of questions but, with the help of the great people of the g503.com It's all coming back together!
