I started working on this jeep because I wanted to learn more about mechanical work. I chose this vehicle to learn on because it had just been sitting at my Grandpa's house for a little over forty years, and he just let me have it. My Grandpa and his brothers passed it around when they first bought it back in the 50's and used it for several different jobs. Because of this it is missing various original parts (Such as the back seat, pindel hook, the military tail lights, and the top bow assembly. I was very happy to discover recently that the serial numbers on the engine block, frame, and data plates all match. The engine; however, uses timing gears instead of a timing chain. This seemed odd to me because all the manuals that I have looked at only talk about chains. This project is moving very slow for me because I am currently a full time college student and therefore have limited time and funds. I am hoping to have the engine rebuilt and placed in the chasse by this coming June (2006)
