GPW 192067

... prior to his birth. Spare time? What's that?. Most of the assembly work was done in '05-'06. Unfortunately, the prior owner had quartered the tub and put it on the curb before I came along. Most everything was there otherwise. She'd been meticulously disassembled into dozens of bags and boxes so the puzzle wasn't that difficult. Was told she had been in service at an Alex. VA service station previously..... since retirement? Jump starts and auto parts runs, as I was told. Fortunately no plowing. The only markings raised from her OD, blue-grey, OD, hood was "U.S.N." 5" letters set low. No numbers found. Many thanks to Bones (the prior owner who took her carefully apart and helped with the wiring in '06), Geo. Baxter Jr., Tony Greenfield, "the Gee" and others. Also special thanks to '43 GPW 101023, my parts pile who dontated a set of combat rims and some misc. "F" bits and bolts to fill EVERY gap. As a tribute to the '43's sacrifice, her still visible numbers 20207788 were copied precisely and now reside with pride on our hood #s anonymous '44.
