I have bought this Jeep from a nice Dutch pilot as a from USA imported wreck. Thanks God the frame and the body with the data plates were matching, DOD 11-20-42. There was a dead CJ engine built in. I found a nice restored GPW engine in the Netherlands, a a retired Dutch specialist sold me and carefully build in a very fine GPW engine (w/o. crankcase vent.), GPW transmission and a GPW transfer case. There were colour remains on the body, the quartermaster contract fits to a US NAVY contract, I decided for a Navy Jeep. DYNETO wiper, lifting rings, capstan winch were built in. Time-exact original (now very nice restored by KA-JA Tachodienst Germany) long-needle gauges (Stewart Warner), King-Seely Speedo long needle, "63". The rear body tube was nearly complete rusted through on many parts, but a repro was a NO-GO for me! The restoration and the worldwide search for GPW parts took 3 years. The following parts are new: NOS Israel Piston/rings, valve and hardened valve seats, NOS chain (FORD),starter ring, brake-parts, new harness (vintage-wiring of Maine), split rims, the new GoodYear tyres (Kelsey-tire), seats (Beachwoodcanvas.com), winter enclosure (CANVASCO.COM England), some NOS part from Peter DeBella, a Hotchkiss windshield frame with a repro FORD marked glass, bearings+cones, seals. Most parts I bought/buy from Ron Fitzpatrick of g503, the best dealer I know. My best adviser is Mr. Sven Kunkler from Biedenkopf/Germany, a silly exact pedant without any compromise - Doc
