This Jeep was purchased by my grandfather in the 80's from a collector who bought it in a US Military sales in ex-RFA. We drove this jeep during 20 years on vacation in the Balearic Island. I've learn to drive with it, it's a part of my life.
From what i know and what i discovered, the Jeep was build in middle of september 44 , has landed in december 44 on the french coast near Marseilles. After the war the jeep went through the French Army and was rebuild two times at La Maltournée in '62 and '64. By chance, the french kept most of the the originals parts but replaced the engine by a WOF dated 1957 with a 1944 head. After her service, the jeep was retroceded to the US Army parked in ex-RFA.
