The ambulance jeep restoration was completed in August 2008. There was over four years of research involved in this restoration. This matching number GPW ambulance jeep was rebuilt, painted Army Olive Drab and the original blue drab numbers USA 20376332 were reapplied. The jeep was then painted USMC Forest Green and the original USMC numbers were reapplied. The original markings on this jeep were preserved or reapplied. The original markings indicate this ambulance jeep was assigned to B Company, 5 th Medical Bn, 27 th Marines, 5 th Marine Division, V th (5th) Amphibious Corps. This jeep served both on Iwo Jima and in the occupation of Japan. The jeep has shrapnel holes through the driver's seat and corresponding wheel well on the driver's side as well as the upper portion of the same wheel well underneath the relocated rear seat. The canvas top, straps and seat cushions were done by WeeBee Webbing.
