I obtained this jeep approximately two weeks ago. I found it near my home in a pasture. The jeep was covered with clutter. It wasn't until I walked up to the jeep and discovered it was a 41-45 GPW. I spoke with the property owner who informed me the jeep was headed to the local scrap yard. He said the jeep was old and served no purpose on his place. I adopted this gem and now know its idenity. Its a 43 GPW. After cleaning the jeep of clutter, I found that all parts (drivetrain, body and motor) were original "F" script. It is missing the canvas top, tools, fire ext, grease gun, oil can and bracket, B.O. assembly, and rear foot stops. The wheels are post war production but in sound condition. I found a number on the engine, just above the exhaust manifold with a strange stamp number (98I4X). I would really enjoy some feedback and appreciate any suggestions to my project. The Restoration begins March 1, 2009. I would like information about posting my restore project progress online. Thanks for looking. J. Krenek
