I first saw this jeep in Dec 2000. It was brought to me for a tune up and to get it road worthy. At the time it was wearing its third coat of paint tan, over navy gray, over its original olive drab. The jeep was in excellent condition with only a small rust hole near the shovel bracket, and some rust in the hat channels. Overall the jeep was about 90% complete. It was missing it's top bows & brackets, rear seat, and horn. The original tail lights had been replaced with FORD GP tail lights. I gave the jeep a tune up, added the top bows & brackets replaced the exhaust system. The muffler looked like it was the original. A new set of seat cushions, and a few other small parts were added and the jeep returned to its owner. I asked him at the time if he ever wanted to part with it to let me know. I got a phone call in 2006 and after a couple months of negotiations I acquired the jeep. When I got it, it had been repainted in current military OD. I gave it a repaint in U.S.M.C. Lusterless 34052. The jeep has not been restored it's condition is that good. A full restoration will follow later. I have not yet discovered what the Hood number is. The Frame, Body, and Engine number are all within the correct range to all be original to the jeep. It still has all it's original data plates. About 90% of the wiring harness is original. The windshield still has the original wiper arms, thumbscrews and chains, even the anti rattle washers are there. For now we drive it regularly and attend parades and events.MN
