GPW 232728

This GPW was given to me for free. It was in pretty bad shape when I got it. It had been sitting outside for 30+ years uncovered. First day I got it I put a battery in it and put some fuel down the carb. and got it to start. Once I knew it ran I removed the body, engine and trans. and I sand blasted and painted the frame and running gear. I also installed all new brake components and all new drive train seals. After that I rebuilt the engine and set it on the chassis along with trans/transfer case. I then set the tub back on only to realize it was covering up all the hard work I had put into it with a beat up tub so it was then that I decided to put in a little more effort. I took the time and built new seats, New fuel tank (15 gallons), New window frame, New roll bar, and new body panels to cover up the beat up/rusted body. A little more work than I had planed on but the end result is worth it. I think I am about $1200 into my free jeep. Not sure of how many man-hours I put in but it was alot. In the end I am happy with my progress.
