This jeep was bought by my wifes grandpa [possibly in the late 40's] from some one who bought a few of them from the Army. The family story go's that this guy took a ship/barge around to some islands in the Pacific after the war and piced them up then brought them back to the states and resold them??? In the early 50's they replaced the engine, tranny and transfer case with a cj2 setup and put a pto wench on the back. They also built an aluminum top on her. Over the years they drove it to school and around Detriot, MI. and during deer hunting season they tow her up to Michigan's upper penisula to hunt. When I got to her she was rusting in my father-in-laws field after alot of work I got her running and used it to hull wood. I took the body of the frame a couple of years ago. I got the body fixed and painted this spring[2002]and drove it on July 1st 2002. I found the hood numbers under about 7 coats of paint, they were hard to read but I'm 99.99% sure that I got it right. She's running good, got her up to 58mph on level road with the windsheild up! I take her out lite-2tracking on our many miles of old dirt roads. Its been alot of fun!!!!!
