MB 108924

As the data plates were missing the exact date of delivery of this vehicle to the United States Army is unknown. However, I speculate that it may have been on Monday, January 5, 1942 based on the DODs of MBs with chassis numbers close to this one. While restoring this jeep I discovered that the name “Road Runner” was stenciled in one-inch yellow lettering on both sides of the body. From prior owners I learned that this MB Slat Grill served with General George S. Patton at the Desert Training Center near Indio, CA. In late 1942 the Army contracted with the Novak Scrap Yard in Rialto, CA to scrap the metal from the military vehicles destroyed at the DTC. Included among the scrap was this MB.
