Most recent addition to the motor pool. This GPW was purchased by the previous owner in 1967 in Pennsylvania and driven to Colorado where it remained until I purchased it in 2019. This GPW is mostly original and still retains many of the early production features...no trailer socket, no rear panel reinforcement brackets, small mouth fuel tank with accompanying driver’s seat and early RHF transmission case. There is still remnants of the large star on the hood and the smaller ones on both rear quarter panels. There is a lot of original OD under the layers of peeling paint...which gives me some pause on how to go about restoring this jeep...maybe a “rustoration”? I am going to try to uncover the registration number on the hood. Body handles are still in place as well as the “F” marked pintle hook. Engine was swapped out for another GPW motor long ago but I’ll be in search of this jeep’s original motor!
