I purchased this jeep in 1994 when I was 20 years old. I have been working on her ever since, little by little. This jeep served at the Bayonne, New Jersey NSD at some point during its service as it has “Bayonne NJ NSD” painted in black on both quarter panels above the rear wells over Navy gray paint. I was able to uncover its original reg number (U.S.A. 20369245) in blue drab on the hood under many layers of paint. The jeep has its original data plates. It also had a US Navy registration number in yellow on both sides of the hood (USN 88667) painted directly over a layer of OD paint and also painted on the rear panel along with the number "54" also in yellow on the center of the panel. It had a lot of Navy gray paint which was still visible on the body before I sand-blasted. Under the gray was many layers of OD. ***The following shipping information was provided to me by Jim Gilmore*** This jeep was built at Ford's Louisville, KY branch and was equipped with 5 natural rubber tires. Vehicle was shipped (on wheels) on 1 April 1943 on shipping order C-136332. Loaded into Pere Marquette RR boxcar No.93107 along with GPWs 103646 (20369023), 104150 (20369242), 104462 (20369246) and 104091 (20369249). The jeep is currently going through a complete restoration back to as original as I can possibly get her. The jeep will bare the markings of L Company, 134th Infantry/35th Division ETO (Nebraska National Guard). The engine listed did not come with the jeep. I actually came across it a few years later. The old serial number has been ground off and GPW104570 has been restamped on the pad, possibly done when the motor was rebuilt by the Army. The engine still has a 4th Service Command rebuild tag attached to the lower left side of the block.
