The Willys script "Slat Grill" body tub and all body components on my jeep are original. The body number is 25449, manufactuured in March 1942, making it among the last of the 25,808 "Slat Grill" bodies manufactured. The body is an ACM Type I, exhibiting all the distinctive design elements of early production by Willys Overland. Other original components include the frame, suspension assemblies, front seat frames, five divided-rim (combat) wheels, fuel filter, gas tank, radiator, oil filter, oil filler/dipstick, headlights and blackout marker lights. The assembly date stamped on the front differential is 2-20-42 and the rear differential is 2-13-42. The engine is serial number, MB 239544 (1943 production)and carries a plate indicating it was rebuilt by the Mount Ranier Ordnance Comm. Shop in Tacoma, WN on 54.5. The original USA registration (hood) number could not be determined. The current number is my service number. I started restoration of my jeep in September 1998, completing the major work in June 1999. In 2000 I replaced the front bumper/gussets and the rear cross member/bumperettes. The only changes from original are 11 inch diameter brake drums, a Solex carburetor, a 12 volt electrical system with alternator and directional signals. Contact at ejschommer@aol.com
