MB 355298

Found this'44 MB June 13,'01.(DOD is est.) Used as a hunting jeep & farm runabout. Got stung by a hornet when i walked up to it. Most of the standard works were present, despite usual body rust. Frame was weak at battery area, acid had leaked over it. Farmer said he'd take cash, after which his wife exclaimed "Thanks for haulin' away our junk!..your welcome to return for more". MB went into storage for 5 months prior to off-frame re-store. Noted a Ft.Letterkenny Ord.Army Depot recondition tag on l. side of block dated: "10-11-'49". Sadly, MB/MA-79924 eng. was blown, but kept tag for posterity. Jan. 5th 2003: Jeep is 3/4 done! Will restore as 101st AB/502nd PIR HQ Co. Wish me luck on the full completion! Dec. 27th 2003:Began a total MC engine re-build in Nov. Looking to be roadworthy by April 2004 + 7 NDT's July 8th 2004!!! Finished MB-355298!! Have driven in a few parades locally. Great responce from folks to all my long, hard work! Thank You G503!
